Job Description:
The Mason is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of brick, CMU, stone, and other masonry materials. This role involves skilled craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of building techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Masonry Construction:
Lay bricks, blocks, and stones to construct walls, arches, and other structures.
Mix and apply mortar and other materials for masonry work.
Use hand and power tools effectively and safely.
Repairs and Maintenance:
Assess and repair damaged masonry structures.
Replace damaged bricks, stones, and mortar as needed.
Ensure all repairs meet quality standards and specifications.
Site Preparation:
Prepare and clean job sites, including laying out materials and tools.
Ensure that all work areas are organized and safe.
Quality Control:
Perform work in adherence to specifications and quality standards set by your supervisor.
Work with supervisors to ensure accurate execution of plans.
Safety Compliance:
Follow safety protocols and regulations on the job site.
Participate in safety meetings and report any hazards or incidents.
Qualifications:
Education:High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in masonry is a plus.
Experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in masonry work preferred.Experience with various masonry materials and techniques.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of masonry methods and materials.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good physical stamina and strength for lifting heavy materials.
Ability to effectively communicate with team members.
Ability to understand layout and materials required.
Certifications:
OSHA 10 certification preferred.
Any relevant trade certifications are a plus.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
May involve lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
Ability to work at heights.
